A Lyon County man will spend nearly two years on probation for helping to distributing small amounts of marijuana.

Judge Merlin Wheeler sentenced Christopher Johnson, 25, to 22 months of probation Tuesday.

Johnson was arrested in late February. He pleaded guilty in late June to conspiracy to distribute less than 25 grams of marijuana. He also pleaded no contest to actually distributing it. Both counts are felonies.

A separate lower-level felony drug charge involving tax stamps was dismissed.

There was a problem reporting this.

As a hardcore conservative I will give credit where credit is due.

Marijuana is ONLY thing that liberals / (communists) are 100% correct about.

Big Pharma is scared to death of it.

It helps folks all ranges of physical and mental ailments ,.. it even enhances brain function but doesn’t destroy brain cells like alcohol does.

No one in the history of mankind has ever died from an overdose,.. it’s impossible.

I'm nearly 76 years old, never smocked a marijuana cigarette in my life. So my question would be, how do I go about even finding out if it would help with my pain and ill feeling? Where do I start and with who. Seems like it has to be better than this chemical pills and shots the Doctors push constantly, that don't work.

Hey Bubba, There are several shops around Emporia that sell CBD products. CBD is a part of marijuana with no buzz, that's legal in Kansas that many claim helps relieve all kinds of pain. I would start at Natures Paradise 1511 W 6th Ave. A health products store that been here for a long time. Good people, and they know their stuff. Good Luck.

Good point! I forget standalone cbd products even exist, although their thc counterpart seems to be more effective, but there are plenty of people who say cbd has helped them. Definitely worth trying.

The only way to know is if you try it yourself as it affects everyone a little differently. You will have zero problem finding a marijuana dispensary in Denver. All you have to do is walk in the door, show your ID, and they will let you into the store. Tell your "budtender" you have pain and would like to try something different. They will give you several options to try out. Keep in mind things like topical salves, tinctures, edibles, sodas/drinks, oral thc pills, and hashish oil/vape cartridges also exist if you don't like the skunky smoke smell or have any sort of lung problems.

If you're looking for somewhere more specific, and don't mind spending a little extra for high quality medicine, I would recommend you go to

They are one of the few places that sell organically grown cannabis, and the staff is always helpful. Stay away from the major brands like "Medicine Man" and "Starbuds". And don't dare try to take any back to Kansas, or you could end up on the front page of the newspaper too, haha.

There's also no guarantee it will help you, but 80% of those who try feel cannabis was more effective than opioids for pain, and 92% that the side effects of cannabis were more tolerable than opioids, so it's worth trying at the very least.

I have been hoping to see a positive update on those 4000 doses of hydrocodone which were "dispensed" in 5 minutes in the middle of the night at a local Pharmacy last February. Now, that would be some police work. I imagine that Fentanyl should keep them pretty busy too. Priorities, please!

Good thing they nabbed him before he had a chance to jaywalk.

Are those lightning bolts related to a certain genetics company by chance? They look very familiar, haha.

So, this "evil doer" is convicted of two felonies; one for thinking about selling "a small amount" of marijuana, and a second for actually doing it. The third felony for not paying taxes on it was dismissed. I know that I feel safer now with this dangerous felon on probation. We all know that small amounts of marijuana is merely a gateway drug to medical cannabis and all sorts of pain relief. I doubt that he had to "Push" too hard.

What's sad is that with my prescription, I can legally possess over 10x the amount this poor man was caught with. I can even order online and have it delivered to my door. Kansas really needs to get with the times. My state brought in over $423 million dollars in sales tax revenue in 2021. We also employ nearly 40,000 people, myself included.
